New Dragon Chinese Restaurant in Ovid, NY – Tasty Takeout with Generous Portions

Take out only! We grabbed our food which was ready in under 10 minutes and ate it at the picnic area near the tourist center. Everything was super tasty, generous portions as well.

We've tried all the local Chinese restaurants, and each has its strengths and weaknesses. We gave New Dragon a try a couple of months ago and ordered sweet and sour pork, pork fried rice, lo mein, beef and broccoli, crab rangoons, and egg rolls. The downside: Unfortunately, the lo mein was inedible, it had an overpowering fishy taste that made it unpleasant. Living 10 miles away, returning it wasn't practical, so we ended up throwing it out. It’s unclear whether it was too much fish sauce or if something had gone bad. We spent $55 on dinner which is about normal but I hate tossing food out. The upside: Everything else was absolutely delicious. The egg rolls were perfectly crispy, the crab rangoons were flavorful (though we missed the usual dipping sauce that other places include), and the fried rice was cooked just right. The beef and broccoli had great flavor and texture, and the sweet and sour pork was spot on. Despite the issue with the lo mein, I would definitely order from New Dragon again. If they can address whatever went wrong with that dish, this place would be a solid go-to. Overall, I’d give it a 4.5 out of 5 star recommendation.

We stopped at New Dragon cuisine because we were staying outside of Ovid New York for the week. My wife got the shrimp with lobster sauce and I enjoyed shrimp with garlic sauce. Both the dishes were superb. My wife got a egg roll which was top rated and compared with Chen Gardens in Rochester. I enjoyed the hot and sour soup with my lunch. A worthwhile stop and very nice people there.

The service was quick and on time. The food cost was reasonable and portions were good. The food was a bit bland. Could use some more flavor.

What a little gem in a small town with great small town feel! I had beef and Chinese vegetables! Great gravy and plenty of beef and veggies! Wife had sweet and sour chicken. Standard fair but done perfectly! Drove down to Watkins Glen and enjoyed it on the lake with stunning views! Don't sleep on this place!

Love the food!!! Wish they were open on Sundays as well, and that they had delivery. But out here, delivery isn't always an option!!! We're just so glad they're here!!!!

In town for my sister’s wedding and we arrived later than planned. Was so happy to see they were open later than other places! Friendly staff and food was pretty good

After traveling the Northeast with my Mom doing cooking shows I have to say this is the best Chinese food we have had in the Northeast. The food is amazing! We are very lucky to have them in this small town.
